"LAGOS, SALARES AND CULTURES IN THE PATH OF THE SUN" Background



The Education Sector of MERCOSUR and the Organization of Iberoamerican States (OEI) announce the contest "Roads MERCOSUR "to promote and strengthen awareness in favor of regional integration.

"Caminos del MERCOSUR" seeks to stimulate and strengthen the knowledge and the links between young students of the region through of inquiry and systematization, from different perspectives of our cultural roots and sharing a journey through some of the roads, trails, routes that make up our regional cultural and natural heritage.

Prize:

The prize winners will receive this year is the realization of a trip to
Bolivia, visiting places of interest linked to the central theme of the contest. Among
Others: La Paz, Copacabana, Tiwanaku, Oruro, Pulacayo, Uyuni, Potosí, Sucre and Santa Cruz. Will be held from 19 to 31 October or so.

Who can participate?

• Those young people, born in 1991 and 1992 only;
• That are studying Secondary Education (Secondary or UTU, in public or private) in the countries of MERCOSUR;

Caminos del MERCOSUR

The project "Caminos del MERCOSUR" was born as a proposal for the Education Sector of MERCOSUR, with the aim of strengthening youth mercosureña identity of the region through a formative experience in which participants , and expand their knowledge, develop an experience that would see the value of regional integration while respecting cultural diversity.

The proposal consisted and consists in the development of an annual competition históricoliterario character, involving middle school students (16 to 17 years) of all States of MERCOSUR, whose motto is changing with the choice made by each host country. Six winners may be selected in each country, which end up forming a delegation of thirty-six students, whose prize is a study trip for 10 days for one of the emblematic routes in the region.

Each of the Ministries of Education of MERCOSUR, together with the IEO, which participates in the organization and dissemination of this initiative, promoting edition of the contest every year on March 26, the date stated in the school calendar as "MERCOSUR Day" in commemoration of the signing of the Treaty of Asunción, which was the one that gave it birth.
