Culture and adventures in Ruta Quetzal
Along with the expedition
selected among the best in Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa, winners of the contest Uruguayan Ruta Quetzal BBVA 2008, Joanna Vigorito, Liceo No. 30, Ezequiel Sánchez, Jesús María school, and Lorena Articardi, the Colegio San Juan Bautista, beginning on June 17 trip studies and adventures in the jungle of Panama, the mighty Chagres River and in Spain, tour Aragon and Castile.


Ruta Quetzal program group BBVA, created under the initiative of King of Spain Juan Carlos and universal interest declared by UNESCO, aims to strengthen and deepen the cultural ties between young people between 16 and 17 years of all the Latin American community. It is a journey of adventure and knowledge, promoting coexistence, equality, cultural exchange, respect for other cultures and environmental awareness.



This year the expedition will travel to the Panama Canal, one of the largest engineering and functional that man has developed through history. The Chagres River, called the Crocodile River or the Lizard, is the channel of Panama and is the only river in the world power that sends its water to the two oceans, the Atlantic and Pacific. Students will tour the rich variety of flora and fauna of this region of the planet has got that the Panamanian government and the international institutions set aside 25% of its territory as protected area, divided into 14 national parks.



Across the Atlantic, Spain, the expedition traveled Castilla-La Mancha and Castilla y León arrived. In Madrid, the issue will be received in audience by the kings of Spain and ending in July at the closing ceremony of the academic program led by the University Complutense of Madrid.
