high school students will travel to Naples (Italy)
Eight high school students in the department of Canelones 3rd part of Peace Camp to be held in October in Naples (Italy). Teens will travel accompanied by a Social Educator of the Canary Islands. By
public lottery Canelones eight teenagers were selected to participate in the 3rd Camp La Paz that will be held in October in Naples.
Prof. Gabriela Rodriguez, Area Children and Adolescents in the Canary Islands said that since the Commune was a call to all schools of the department, asking them to recommend two students (one female and one male). The requirement to comply is to have a defined profile: Committed to social issues and as the leader.
In Naples, Canary Islands delegation will live with people from 10 different countries and participate in workshops that relate to the Millennium Development Goals, peace, sustainable development, poverty and inclusion.
"We believe they will to be a very enriching experience for them, "Rodriguez said.
So what was the participation in 2006 and 2007, when the peace camp was hosted at the cities of Montevideo and Mexico City respectively.
As said, the boys return home to turn their experiences into their community projects.
Peace Camp is organized by the Catalan Foundation "Universal Forum of Cultures." Has a strong interest in cultural integration.
Commune's participation in this event, explained the Director of the Department of Children and Adolescents, Dr. Jorge Crespo is to support, accompany a Social Educator and organizing paperwork for young people who are traveling. The

Making A Model Of The Alamo
Campaign "No wrinkle" from the ECA
Under Curricular subject of Open Space (ECA), prof. Jesus Carlos Arbiza of secondary schools in Villa Constitución Acc. Jump 5 offers students an activity called "crumpled paper."
The teacher starts the class by taking a sheet of cuadernola own, crumpling it and throwing it into a wastebasket. He refers to young people what is this act for them and what gives meaning to the roles wrinkled. The answers that arise are:
- something that serves no
- throw
Something - Something worthless
- marks
life - something that does not make sense
- A waste
- The symbol of an idea could have been but was not
- Something that we reject as inadequate
- Something wrong
discarded by
believe
After the brainstorming, the teacher reflects on students about the importance of a review before disposal projects, not to give in an effort to have the slightest problem and not take anything as unrecoverable or unusable. It makes a round of debate on what councils could provide other young people who have the motivation or who have difficulty completing their projects and "wrinkle" on the road. The teacher uses the pun on the word while wastes are also ideas that might be brilliant but that did not result from lack of drive or motivation. The task ends with the collective writing of a council and a conclusion
"Tip:
Next, think twice because each can keep a better idea, because nothing is as bad as to reject it completely and nothing is as good as not to be overcome. It all depends on oneself, the attitude, desires, desire and above all the effort you put in to achieve it.
Conclusion:
Our best hope is to meet every goal you set, which specifies each of your dreams and that depends on you. NO wrinkles! "

Uruguay to return to compete in the 120 years teaching
Design Competition Results for 2008 Space Station
In 2008, NASA received 156 projects from 840 students supported by 74 teachers, projects from places procedientes as diverse as Bulgaria, Canada, China, India, Iran, Japan, Pakistan, Romania, Singapore, Slovenia and Uruguay. 10 groups also attended the United States.
Winning Proposal "DACIA" Romanian pupils
main prize winners were the young representatives of Romania for his project DACIA'S. The NASA portal distinguished in the highly competitive level of the proposals and particularly underlines that a number of honorable mentions were for teams that have been winning major awards in recent years, as is the case of representatives of secondary school no. 4, Maldonado, Uruguay.
Among the winners in 2008 the first prize is the project ECOPUS School of the construction (Montevideo). The high school students no. Maldonado 4 of this year, with their proposal "New Gaia", obtained an honorable mention.
Tutors were teachers by Maldonado Gaviraghi, Renzo Ghio, Fernando Gimenez, Angel Ramos and Laura Da Silva,
The Uruguayan team, one of three that won the 2007 contest space station design sponsored by NASA Ames NSS and responded to the question "Why Space?" within the framework of the International Conference on Spatial Development (ISDC) developed in May 2007.

Astronomy: an interdisciplinary science that uses input from various disciplinary fields as wise to interpret and predict the phenomena of its scope, encourages questioning and observation educates, stimulates creativity in the proposed models develops spatial intelligence in the three-dimensional approach situations, places the man in time and space he lives giving meaning to its place in the Universe, and ... ... ... wonder to the senses and soul.
Insp by Queen Pintos Ganon
"Astronomy for the dignity of its object and perfection of his theories is the most beautiful monument of the human spirit, the noble title of his intelligence. Seduced by the illusions of the senses and of self, man has been seen for years, as the center of the movement of the stars, and his vain pride has been punished because of fears that they have inspired him. Finally, several centuries of work have brought down the veil from their eyes the World System. So it has been almost imperceptible on a planet in the solar system, whose vast spread is but an invisible point in the vastness of space. The results sublime to which this discovery has led to comfort themselves are well range they assign to the Earth, showing its magnitude in the extreme smallness of the base that has served to measure the heavens. Preserved with care, we increase the deposit of such knowledge, the delight of thinking beings. They have rendered important services to navigation and geography, but its greatest benefit is to have allayed the fears produced by the celestial phenomena and destroyed the errors born of ignorance of our true relationship with nature, mistakes and fears that soon reborn if the torch was extinguished Science someday. " Pierre Simon Laplace
holds much truth and depth of this paragraph of Laplace in his "Exposition on the system in the world "! (1835) Already, in the early nineteenth century, reflects the idea of \u200b\u200b"global village" and the passage of the information society to knowledge society.
knowledge supports sustainable growth, so in Uruguay must improve the production of knowledge through research, sharing through education and applying it through innovation.
Several international agencies have addressed the growing problem of declining interest in science and mathematics among young people. It also recognizes that the purpose of education is not only the transfer of skills (reading, writing and arithmetic, knowledge of the society in which we live, and creating nation of citizens, the founding contract of origin of the Uruguayan public education), but also develop the ability to think, reflect and manage information in a rational and structured. (JM Silva Rodríguez, OEI).
"Science has two rules. First: There are no sacred truths; any presumption must be examined critically, the authorities' arguments are worthless.
Second, any inconsistency with the facts must be discarded or revised. We have to understand Cosmos as it is, and not confuse how it is, with how we want out. "(Carl Sagan)
A recent OECD study has shown that the dwindling interest of youth for the subjects and careers in science can be attributed largely to the lack of appeal with the science subjects during escolarizante. Apparently, the reason would be an excessive transmission of scientific facts by teachers at the expense of science experiment, live science.
Science classes have to become more attractive to students. In social construction of knowledge production, must be added the factor of volition, motivation, passion for learning. For this reason, students have to experience their own learning as something real and "doing science" instead of "learning science." Teachers should teach what justifies his teaching is moral and real, worthy to be taught (G. Fenstermacher).
The science courses should approach the level of knowledge and understanding of students, rather than engaging to teach sophisticated concepts for students to acquire an image of science within their own cultural context.
Astronomy, as an integral and integrating space science, offers and generates an excellent and attractive joint space of knowledge, questions, promoter of cross-disciplinary approaches, in the sense that gives Morin (whose real name is Edgar Nahoun of Sephardic Jewish origin), in Article 14 of the Charter of Transdisciplinarity (Arrabida, 1994): Rigor, openness and tolerance are the key features of the attitude and vision transdisciplinary. The rigor of the argument, which takes into account all issues, is the best protection from any bias. The opening includes the acceptance of the unknown, the unexpected and unpredictable. Tolerance is the recognition of the right to ideas and truths contrary to ours.
The methodology that we practice the kind of astronomy, through questions triggers reflection and analysis, we generate tensions in the cognitive structures of entry for students who re-structuring to reduce tension and need to ask questions, formulate hypotheses, seek information, gather input (bibliographic, observational, computing, experimental ), processing, development models. "All knowledge is the answer to a question," says Gaston Bachelard in The Making of the scientific spirit (1938).

Is the real science in action, the scientific attitude, which is then applied to various situations in life.
"Ignorance affirms or denies, science questions," said Voltaire
Astronomy can generate and spark a vocation for scientific literacy through the application of the contents of the basic sciences, situations complex and collective, and multivariate multi-causal, to foster discussion and learning of science and the entry into scientific careers. The history of science, epistemology of scientific knowledge building you live in the kind of astronomy: Mathematics, from Euclidean geometry to chaos theory, physics, from classical mechanics to quantum gravity through quantum and relativistic, Chemistry, from the stellar origin of the elements in nuclear reactions, biomolecules Biology from life supports the search for habitable worlds and life.
A group European experts discussed what steps could be taken in Europe to support science teaching in primary and secondary schools. The group, chaired by Michel Rocard, former Prime Minister of France and currently a member of Parliament presented its report and recommendations in June 2007 ("Science Education Now: A Renewed Pedagogy for the Future of Europe". European Commission ISBN 978-92-79-05659-8).
The diagnosis made by the group is based on an analysis of initiatives already being implemented. From this analysis we have identified a number of elements of "know-how (know how) and best practice (" Good practices ") that could radically change young people's interest in studying science. The group argues for a new method of teaching science, which involves a radical break with traditional teaching methods, according to which the shift from mainly deductive teaching method based inquisitive curiosity could be the best way to increase interest in science. This method, in which the teacher accompanies the students helping to discover science, stimulates the ability of observation, reasoning and imagination of the student.
In 2007, our high schools, there were several classroom activities, extráulicas, extension and outreach on the fiftieth anniversary of the first satellite into orbit, Sputnik I, in 2008, we have the fiftieth anniversary of the series Explorer that detected the magnetic shield that protects the Earth and the centenary of the Tunguska phenomenon, not far from the reality of bombing of space in the history of our Earth and not the probability of global disaster in the future. In 2009 the world celebrates the International Year of Astronomy by the United Nations said recently. Today we are preparing for it.

International Year of Astronomy will highlight the importance of this science and its contributions to society and culture. It will highlight the merits of science and its methods. Astronomy has not only been a source of inspiration for humankind throughout all ages and all nations, but also triggered scientific discoveries and inventions that have had an impact on our daily lives. In addition to celebrating the 400 years since Galileo's telescope, there's a paradigm breakthrough that changed the position of Man in the Universe: From Aristotle to Copernicus, from geocentric to heliocentric, and the displacement of man and some institutions as the center of the Universe . Our country celebrates
that year the 120 years of the teaching of astronomy in Uruguay, and a leading pioneer in the teaching curriculum of this course worldwide, with some renowned figures such as Nicolas Piaggio, first Professor of Astronomy at University High School section of the Republic, with several publications on physics, mathematics and cosmography, Enrique Legrand, who also was responsible for a professorship in 1905, produced ephemerides, calculated the orbit of the Great Comet of 1901 and was a correspondent of the Astronomical Society of France; Thévenet Alberto Reyes, who happened in the chair at a competitive Piaggio, author of several publications, constructor of several sundials, including the IAVA, whose observatory led to build the high school director Miranda when it was located in the former Sierra Street; Alberto Pochintesta, who participated in the discovery of a comet in 1947 from the Obs. dictate the IAVA and Astronomy for geography in the IPA, Dr. Felix Cernuschi (former student of Sir Arthur Eddington in Cambridge), Professor IPA founder, initiator Agregatura in astronomy from the former section Agregaturas Secondary, founder of the Department. Astronomy of the Faculty of Sciences, sponsor Municipal Planetarium, Carlos Etchecopar (Vaz Ferreira faculty secretary in the School of Humanities and Sciences), director of the observatory IAVA, Professor of History of Science at the IPA, just to name already disappeared.
Today, several countries in Latin America and Spain are bound to the inclusion of this subject in their curriculum of studies, we already have a good way done and we look forward to promoting Observatories, the renewal of content and methodology, making a web page attached to the secondary (http://www.ces.edu.uy/webastronomia/astro_ces), the operation of a virtual network of professors of astronomy throughout the country to exchange of experience and quick communication teachers with the inspection of the subject, and conducting refresher courses Salas-disciplinary teaching, conducting coordinated activities with other subjects in the field of science, humanistic and expressive, participation in tenders and projects at national and international levels, support materials production, selection and purchase of library materials and resources, participation in the proposed program rooms for teacher of Astronomy at the IPA, the promotion of activities with the Municipal Planetarium, the Field Planetary Kappa Crucis, the Fac . of Sciences, the Observatorio Astronómico Los Molinos, the Supporters Association Astronomy, Network Observer, The Carl Sagan Observatory of the IMM, the Observatory's Algarrobos Salto, and the Uruguayan Society of Astronomy.
We can only assess the adequacy of the number of hours that presents the subject in a single course of middle school curriculum, level 1, BD, in Ref 2006 to allow a link that leads, with the teacher and with the subject, that promotes powerful and meaningful learning by students.

Elevated Bilirubin In A Dog What Does It Mean
Culture collaboratively to avoid duplication
TOWARDS A COLLABORATIVE CULTURE. Experience of high school in Villa Rodriguez to avoid repetition high school students
"Teaching is not to transfer knowledge but to create the possibility of their production or construction." (Paulo Freire, Pedagogy of Autonomy ", 1997)
The intention of this article is to convey experiences that were successful in the classroom with our students who are the focus of our work. In the course of the years in high school in Villa Rodriguez began to reflect on a number of problems were repeated. Made the diagnoses we marveled at the number of students who repeated in each course. Going by tracking them, constatábamos those same students continued to repeat in subsequent classes, thereby generating a lag and finally ended up deserting.
was time to reflect on our educational practices and try to think of other strategies, turning to other tools as those used so far had not yielded the expected results.
Those who did achieve promotion often partially, with several unfinished or barely acceptable grades, few stood out.
We saw that our students were not entirely motivated by our classes. Would they be boring our practices?, Would they be related to their interests?, "Be leaving needs of context?, "would point to the construction of knowledge?," allow a collaborative culture?, these and other questions we asked ourselves in formal and informal.
In coordination bodies exchanged ideas about the problems observed and sometimes even saw some method, a strategy employed had attracted more attention from our students.
When it came to pass specifically what the method or practice that had worked, we could not find the way to go. We had neither the theoretical let us argue about what we considered a success in our educational experiences. We felt that the best way to understand these practices were part of the same, but that the difficulty was to address the culture of individualism, the "I" which remained in teaching for a long time.
also saw that a cross-program content, which could be treated from different subjects, what were focusing often as an isolated, not as a whole.
Thus began distábamos aware that much of what was said by Peter Senge, 1992: "A learning organization is an organization learning and continually expands its ability to create the future. Organizations able to overcome the difficulties, recognize threats and deal with new opportunities. "
In one of the areas of coordination initiative was taken to work in a group with simultaneous or peer teaching based on that knowledge is one, so subjects are no isolated compartments. The important thing is that students understand the connection between knowledge.
strategically plan is to reduce the gap between school and what we want (Matus, 1987).
Objectives:
- Enrich our educational practices through a collaborative culture.
- Facilitate the exchange of successful experiences.
- Promoting the work of integrating open teachers of different subjects.
- Bringing the community.
- Avoid fragmentation curriculum.
- Strengthen networking.
Activities:
We shared, among others, the following activities:
1. "Nutrition researcher"
was achieved in participatory work between teachers of Biology and Informatics Laboratory, with 6th group. year of Medicine, where he did a Google group to work on the subject. Computer is subject hinge to Biology.
invite you to visit the actividad.1
Intentionality:
a) Introduce the adolescent in the process of acquiring proper eating habits, through active participation in the construction of their learning, leading to the achievement of healthy life.
b) Use of new technologies through networking intangibles such as information and communication technologies (ICTs), who can serve as trigger for the access and selection of timely and valid.
c) To facilitate the research and design of future projects on the acquisition of correct eating habits and adolescents.
Projection:
As an extension of the previous activity was performed Networking of students in 6th. year medical students with the 3rd group. B School No. 47 Fructuoso Rivera.
When high school students appropriated the knowledge is proposed to reverse a situation created by a consumer society that plays on the health of children, who are tempted against a media culture to consume junk food and sweets.
They decided to propose school students the opportunity to together to realize the need for a change in eating habits.
exchange activity in the school group young high school students transferred knowledge built through previous experience basing the reasons for a healthy diet.
school students motivated by the activity investigated by different resources (literature, interviews with technical and suitable for the locality, internet) on vegetables and fruits in season, location and possibilities of growing in the greenhouse to support the high school that work in school.
Access to information seeking via the Internet was the trigger for the emergence of other activity is taking place today between school and other youth group.
2. "PREGNANCY TEEN AND SOCIAL STRATA "
Worked with simultaneous presence of Biology and Geography Teachers and support after the Computer Lab where they are socialized research by students, through literature and current data sought in library and Internet. INTENTION
ACTIVITY
a) Building knowledge from the research.
b) enable the students to infer how social class affects the adolescent pregnancy.
c) Socializing the conclusions from the point of view of our country.
d) Select from the web for information relevant to objective raised.
statistical analysis of adolescent pregnancies according to the national social strata and very promptly at the community level.
Research on possible causes. Verbalization.
jointly elaborate conclusions.
Critical reflection of the social and cultural rights in the different strata.
posture of our institution high school students with a reality that in most cases ends causing desertion.
Projection:
research was shared with students from other groups within the institution, through the spaces generated by ECA Space and Adolescents.
3. "CULTURAL EXCHANGE: GERMAN VISIT TO THE COMMUNITY"
INTENTIONALITY
ACTIVITY
a) Integrate the students of the 5th. Years B and H to the EU project "Culture and family in Villa Rodríguez" presented to a delegation of Germans who lived with families in our town for 15 days.
b) Establish social, cultural and economic relations between countries of central and periphery.
c) Getting closer to the school community.

agree that relevant learning is achieved, in context, the pedagogical practices of partnerships have yielded positive results, students understand that knowledge is one, which knowledge are related and which are not discipline-specific fields.
To effectively achieve this from the Centre's management is aware of the concept of holding Andy Hargraves "The challenge of restructuring in education ... is to open broad avenues of choice which respects the freedom of teachers' professional approach and strengthen its capacity decision. It is the challenge of building trust in the processes of collaboration, risk taking and continuous improvement as well as more traditional types of trust in people. It is the challenge of supporting and empowering school cultures and those involved in them to make changes themselves continuously "3.
PROJECTION OF OUR PRACTICE:
is important to share and disseminate the results and how they were met with teachers from other institutions and education authorities. Thus it may be making a move toward improving the quality of our schools. To share must be available to give, but also be open to receive and accept constructive criticism or not other teachers, evaluating what they can bring us, pointing to the development of collaborative culture that will enable the formation of critical and reflective citizens.
We know the context, the educator can not work behind closed doors, not enough to meet the community need to interact with it to meet the needs of others, while having an answer to our own questions.
The teacher must be open to new challenges to overcome resistance caused by the fear of innovation, embrace change with open-mindedness, tolerance, capacity for inclusion and flexibility in planning. Leave the comfort and assurance that gives walking ways known.
is imperative that teachers are professionally and ethically committed to be part of that process of change and successful outcomes.
collaborative tasks, even in the present, pose a challenge. Need to create spaces, point to the teacher's self-esteem, facilitate and promote joint projects in the form that they do not create utopias and networking is a reality, aiming to improve community need.
"The requirement that students acquire a more flexible working techniques and schools respond to diversity multicultural are making teachers and professors have to deal with a philosophy of multiple intelligences with the existence of different styles of learning, heterogeneous grouping of students, with the development of cross-curricular skills such as problem solving and thinking critical to the creation of interdisciplinary relationships between different subjects.
The important thing is that students understand the connection between knowledge.
strategically plan is to reduce the gap between school and what we want (Matus, 1987).

about a year ago, the ministers of the signatories to the Treaty of Asuncion, agreed to the formation of a commission to work on the development of educational materials about human rights, memory and the recent past at the regional level.
"We started with the premise that the four countries have a common history, particularly by the repressive policies that were imposed on them through the coordination of the Condor," he said.
added that in this framework, agreed to work on the memory recent past, "not only from the viewpoint of each country but also from a regional perspective."
The Ministry of Education and Culture understood that in this matter, corresponding to delegate responsibility to the ANEP, for it to nominate their representatives who resolved it among members of the Human Rights Commission CODICEN.
After the formation of technical group developed a first constituent meeting in December last year in Buenos Aires, which was attended by Dr Grace Bianchi (at that time, representative of the ESC in the Commission) and Professor Rosario Caticha , Professor of History at the Institute Artigas Teachers and Teacher Training representative at the Commission itself.

respect, Pratt said, "The criterion is that each country, through certain cultural objects, works the subject of the recent past. Representations, as appropriate, may be through a song, a story, photo or audio-visual production to identify and characterize the period of state terrorism. "
In May, the delegation of each country undertook the task of sorting and processing of these materials, aiming to reflect the specific realities of each country's historical moments.
According to Dr. Pratt, this diversity, which is strongly influenced by national identity, evolution has not allowed a couple of reports of each country. "Not all have gone the same pace. Currently the most advanced are Argentina and Uruguay, but it must await the work of Paraguay and Brazil. "
During the recent meeting held in Montevideo, which was absent in Paraguay for logistical reasons, it was decided to develop a new schedule, with the aim of completing the work in October 2008 to be available for work classroom in the school year 2009.
Around the characteristics that will document, Martin Pratt pointed out that surely will be a briefing, "in which, through the introduction of four cultural objects for each country, will address the subject of the recent past and possible approaches teaching.
Pratt explained that the project is being developed through a regional perspective of the problem, although each country has its own section that will contain relevant material.
The publication, in principle, be made electronically, although it is possible that if funding available, work is also presented in printed format for eventual distribution in schools.
Martín Prats said that the use of teaching materials will be decided by each country in particular, to the classroom work in subjects in which these issues are addressed, such as History, Law and Social Education could also be used in primary education. "What he says is to enhance and complement existing materials to work on these issues," he said.
In another order, the Director of Human Rights reported that in recent months emerged, through the Organization of American States, the possibility of a project that could condense the human rights issue, since the dimension of memory .
added that the idea is to build a sort of virtual library, which contains material not only for educational use, but also aim to concentrate production to support teacher training in this area.
This new project is in the throes of pregnancy, although it will need to meet certain requirements and the determination of the various stages that will allow its implementation.
Within a month, will present a draft to the OAS, which contain and summarize the proposals and criteria discussed in the context of the commission. Once approved, the Commission will devote every effort to comply with the project.

Caminos del Mercosur 2008 Essay Contest on "Carlos Vaz Ferreira"
Vaz Ferreira, living philosopher
The commemoration of the fiftieth anniversary of the death of Carlos Vaz Ferreira allows us to update the enormous and fruitful scope of his work, not yet fully recognized within and outside borders . This update is taking the blunt force of his thoughts and his actions, reflected in many fields: education, social issues, the role of universities, national culture, politics and, of course, philosophy. Vaz Ferreira
erupts in the early twentieth century in a provincial still Montevideo, with a rare maturity able to place and from his early work at the same level of what was being developed philosophically in that time in Europe and in the Anglo world.
One of the important ingredients of the formulation is its integration into the national reality. Thinking in terms of philosophy, was able to permanently place their speculation in the here and now. It is recognized, and his masterly expertise in the use of metaphors drawn, almost all of everyday life. It is therefore a living philosopher, as he wanted it to be the logic. We plan to hold
then Vaz Ferreira's life, not death.
And for this is that call on the Essay Competition, which has, rightly, his name.
AFU's intention is to convene annually to the Contest, promote local development in a continuing philosophical with the times of crisis we live (and what have been times of crisis? Ask our philosopher). It is one of the components of the term "crisis" refers to "opportunity" to create opportunity from what emerges, but this emergency is difficult and labor heartbroken.
